Best Outdoor Decks in Breckenridge

In the summer, the weather is unbelievably perfect in Breckenridge. Dry air and mild temperatures make outdoor dining comfortable and pleasant. In addition, there are very few mosquitos and other bugs that tend to make eating outside at lower altitudes less enjoyable. And if you are wondering what are the best places for outside dining in Breckenridge, we’ve got you covered.

Kenosha Steak House

This steak house offers a homey deck to relax and enjoy a beer as well as a gorgeous view of Breckenridge Ski Resort. Choose from thirty-one beers on tap and soak in a sunny view. This easy-to-access deck is right off of Main Street so you won’t have to travel far. They even have horseshoes in the back garden.

Traverse

For some of the most stunning views in Breckenridge, head to the Traverse. This restaurant is located in the Lodge at Breckenridge and involves a short trek up Boreas Pass Rd. The travel time is worth the vistas. You won’t find this view anywhere else. 

The Motherloaded Tavern

If you are looking for something a little more lively, head on down to The Motherloaded Tavern. This tavern’s menu is full of rich comfort food with unique flair. The Motherloaded Tavern is known for having local artists perform and even open mic nights.

Mi Casa

Relax on the water on Mi Casa’s casual patio. This inviting deck offers a view of the dredge pond and the surrounding mountains. There no better place in Breckenridge to sit back and enjoy a margarita while the sun slips down behind the mountains.

Fatty’s Pizzeria

For family friendly outdoor dining, try Fatty’s Pizzeria one block from Main Street Breck. With a menu sure to please everyone in the family, this restaurant offers generous portions, housemade pizza, sandwiches and salads.

Sevens

When you want to eat above 10,000 feet, take the gondola to Sevens. Sevens is located in the Grand Lodge at Peak 7. The large patio at Sevens opens up to the grassy hills on Peak 7. You can join friends in a game of corn hole and dogs are allowed on the patio. This is the ideal place to relax with family or refuel after your mountain bike ride.

The Quandary Grille

The Quandary Grille can be found on the south end of Main Street, inside Main Street Station. The large patio offers a view of Maggie Pond and Peaks 9 and 10. Enjoy a steak or burger on this inviting patio. Main Street Station also offers two hours of convenient parking, free in their underground lot.

The Crown

If you want to enjoy your coffee outdoors, stop into The Crown. The Crown offers excellent breakfast dishes until 11:30 and then serves a lunch menu. 

The Crown is located right on Main Street, so you won’t have to travel far to find it. If it is too late in the day for coffee, you can enjoy a drink from the bar. The Crown closes at 8:00 pm so it is best to enjoy their patio earlier in the day.

Enjoying the outdoors doesn’t have to stop after your hike or mountain bike ride. Relax and take in an outdoor meal at one of Breckenridge’s many excellent and welcoming restaurants.

Summer Family Activities in Breckenridge

Breckenridge has tons of summer activities for the whole family. Here are a few of our favorites.

Tours with Breckenridge Heritage Alliance

The Breckenridge Heritage Alliance offers a broad range of walking tours guided by local experts. You can take a leisurely stroll through the historic district in downtown, join friends for a Victorian Tea in a historic home, or take a Twilight Tombstone Tour. They also offer hikes to historic mining ghost towns and other places of interest near Breckenridge.

Country Boy Mine 

Located just two miles from downtown Breckenridge, the Country Boy Mine is the perfect place to learn about the area’s rich mining history. Once an active gold mine, you can now take a mine tour and see what it was like working underground. This isn’t just a museum; you can also try panning for gold yourself or slide down the 55 ft. ore shoot. The Country Boy Mine is a great attraction for the whole family.

Festivals

Hike a 14er

The trailhead is easy to access, located off of Highway 9 going south toward Hoosier Pass. Start early in the morning to avoid dangerous afternoon thunderstorms. Local Hiking Trails

If a 14er isn’t in the schedule for you, try one from Breckenridge’s extensive trail system with hiking trails for all skill levels. Beginners, kids and families will enjoy Boreas Pass Rd which has great views, but is relatively flat and wide. Take the Gondola up the mountain and experience Epic Discovery.
