June 18, 2010toJune 20, 2010

Breckenridge Kingdom days is our annual welcome to summer celebration of the rich history and unique culture of Breckenridge. Founded over 150 years ago as a gold rush mining town, Breckenridge was not your normal city. Perhaps that is why mapmakers and the rest of civilized society, did not recognize Breckenridge as a town. So darn it, we recognized ourselves, as the kingdom of Breckenridge. Breckenridge Kingdom days is a yearly party that serves as a reminder to our population that Breckenridge will always remain fairly similar to where it started. Coming to Breckenridge Kingdom days? Then by golly you need to know what to do while you are here.

The activities during Breckenridge Kingdom Days include (Full Schedule of Breckenridge Kingdom Days events)-

-A wild west gunfight on main street

-Museum tours of our historic buildings

The 2009 2010 Breckenridge Beer Festival is being held July 18th, 2009, don’t miss this awesome event.

The 2009 Breckenridge Beer Festival will be held from 1-6 at Main Street Station at the south end of town, next to the village at Breckenridge. This is the fourth annual beer fest and they have been getting better every year. Each year more brewers come, this year 26 breweries will be represented at the beer fest, each with their own style and flavor.

To enjoy the Breckenridge Beer Festival you must purchase a mug. They come in regular for $30 for unlimited tastings, and VIP which includes a commemorative mug, lunch buffet, and VIP room access for $55. I would highly recommend the VIP package as lunch will cost you about $15-$20 anyway. Plus it is great to be able to interrupt the beer slamming with a bite to eat when you start to “feel it”.

There are also three bands playing during the event- The Pimps of Joytime, Oakhurst, and the Luv Brothers. SO come, drink, eat, jam out, and have a great time in Breck.

Breckenridge kingdom days- Celebrate our 150 yr history at Kingdom Days in Breckenridge

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

One of the first large summer events that takes place in Breck is Kingdom days in Breckenridge. Basically, kingdom days is our celebration of the rich 150 year history of Breckenridge. Years ago, during the birth of Breckenridge and through the 1930′s, the Omnipotent map makers of the time neglected to put us on national maps. Out of spite, and most certainly in jest, local members of the community adopted the phrase, Kingdom of Breckenridge, in response to this oversight. If you won’t recognize us, we will recognize ourselves.

Eventually, those in the mapping industry saw fit to officially recognize Breckenridge as a mappable town. However, the term kingdom of Breckenridge remained on the greeting sign at the south end of town for dozens of years after, symbolizing the unique and defiant nature of the town and the people of Breckenridge.

In Celebration of the town’s colorful nature and extended history, Kingdom days is held every year. Festivities include-

The annual Breckenridge town party at the riverwalk center, which includes, food, petting zoo, booze, and games.

-Museum tours of our historic district

-Live music

-An old fashioned gunfight (staged of course, we have progressed as a town over the years)

-The annual outhouse races (yes, that’s right)

Check out more about Kingdom days in Breckenridge and find a great place to stay. Visit us at www.BreckenridgeResortManagers.com/kingdom_days.asp

Until next time
