What To Do in Summer in Breck
Posted by admin | Sunday, June 30, 2019
Most people think of Breck as a winter ski town, but there is so much to do in the summer as well. You can choose from high adventure sports like mountain biking and zip lining, or take it easy and go for gentle hikes, take a walking tour, or fish in a mountain stream. Here are some of the things we love doing in Breckenridge during the summer.

Summer Activities in Breckenridge CO

Epic Discovery

Epic Discovery is the perfect place to explore for a family vacation. Thrilling activities will entertain even the hardest to please teenagers. Alpine Camp offers rock climbing and zip lines. A high ropes challenge course and the Gold Runner Coaster create adventurous memories. In addition to dramatic adventures for teenagers and adults, there are also family friendly activities such as mini-golf, the mineshaft maze, and guided wildflower hikes. The youngest members in the family will enjoy the massive bounce house and the Lil’ Nugget Tubing. You can take the free gondola to the Epic Discovery Basecamp on Peak 8. All of the Basecamp activities will be open beginning June 14th. The Alpine Camp activities will open as weather and conditions permit. Call ahead to make sure the adventure you are hoping for is available.

Gold Mine Tours

Schedule a tour of the Country Boy Mine. At this mine you can explore and walk through  the exhibits, while petting the burros; take a tour deep into the mine; slide down a 55 foot ore chute; and try your hand at panning gold. When you are done, check out the general store to find a treasure to take home. The Country Boy Mine is only two miles from downtown Breckenridge so this makes an easy half day activity. The Lomax Placer mine is right off of Ski Hill Road. It is free to look around the historic buildings. You can also learn to gold pan for a small fee.

Historic Walking Tours

Breckenridge is full of history, particularly from its mining days. The Breckenridge Heritage Alliance offers a vast range of guided walking tours. Some meander through Victorian homes, other through notorious saloons, and still others to famous gold mines. You can book a tour for your group online. Be aware that some tours, such as the saloon tours, are not suitable for people under a certain age. Some tours also cover more ground than others, make sure you are physically up to the tour that you would like to take.

What to do in summer in Breckenridge

Biking

Biking is one of the most beloved summer pastimes in Breckenridge. You can take a mountain bike out over miles of challenging single track. If you prefer paved trails, you can bike all the way to Lake Dillon on miles of paved trails throughout Summit County. Bike rentals are easily available at shops around Breckenridge. Ask your rental shops for advice on the best trails to get started on. The cool weather and stunning terrain make biking irresistible during the summer months.

Jeep Tours

Explore deep into the heart of the mountains with a jeep, ATV, or other off-road vehicle. You can schedule a guided tour, or just rent the equipment to go out exploring on your own. Epic Discovery offers 90 minute off road 4x4 tours in an open-air vehicle. High Country Activities can take you on a variety of tours throughout the back country Summit County. These tours help you get off the beaten path so you can see wildlife and scenery in a whole new way.

Get Away

This is just the beginning of activities to do in Breckenridge in the summer. Get away from the heat of the city and lower elevation. Cool off and enjoy all the wonder, and adventure Breckenridge has to offer.
