Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships 2018

Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships 2018

People will refer to many things as “magical”, and often they are right, though most times it is a term placed in error to describe common things. The Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships are truly alight with magic, and make available the wonder hidden deep in each of us. The International Snow Sculpting Championships will light up the downtown area of Breckenridge Colorado from January 22nd to January 29th, 2018, putting on display 2 ton blocks of snow, light, skill, and talent.

This fantastic winter event starts with sixteen 2 ton, 12 foot high blocks of beautiful Breckenridge snow, which are crafted into detailed and sculpted works of art with only rudimentary tools. To call these creations art, simply does not encompass the feeling you will enjoy while standing beneath their towering magnificence. The International Snow Sculpture Championship artists gently and skillfully transform their artistic vision, using blocks of snow, and basic tools, over the period of a week. At the conclusion of the week, their vision becomes a frozen reality, hand sculpted and backlit with an array of led lighting, positioned in the center of Breckenridge.

Week two at the Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships 2018 will commence with the judging, and awarding of the top three creations, the people’s choice, and all important kids choice. Then, it will move into “viewing week”, where visitors from all over the world are able to discover their appreciation for snow art, and bask in the glorious creations from the international field of snow sculpting teams that descended on Breckenridge. Though it is called “viewing week”, we at Breckenridge Resort Managers like to call it “appreciation week”, as one cannot simply view these awesome sculptures without sincere appreciation of the time, skill, and creative process this group of artists donates to this event.
